Who are we
Mercedes Bristol is the Founder and Executive Director of Texas Grandparents Raising Grandchildren. Her grandparenting journey began nearly 10 years ago when she adopted 5 of her grandchildren. CECA Kinship Caregiver Award-2022
Mercedes Bristol, 2022 Casey Excellence for Children Kinship Caregiver Award winner, receives her award from Casey Family Programs’ Board of Trustees Treasurer Sharon McDaniel. Mercedes talked about when she realized she wasn’t just a caregiver, but also an advocate for children, the process of acquiring more resources for kinship families through legislative changes, and the challenges of raising six children through the COVID pandemic.
Testifying at the Texas Capitol
Mercedes can be seen testifying on behalf of grandparent and kinship caregivers on Senate Bill 263. The Bill has since been passed and signed by the Governor!
